The Kano State Fire Service, under the leadership of the Director, Alh. Sani Anas, wishes to inform the general public that at about 4:32 am. Today Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Service’s Emergency Response Unit (Control Room) received an emergency call from one of our staff Aminu Sani Warure, reporting the collapse of a building at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area.
Upon receiving the report, men of the Service from the Headquarters were immediately mobilized to the scene. On arrival, they discovered that a residential building of about 20 × 30 ft had collapsed.
Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi reported that the incident affected 16 people. The following victims were rescued alive:
1. Al-Mustapha Yusuf, about 15 years old
2. Khadija Yusuf, about 7 years old
3. Ummusalama Yusuf, about 10 years old
4. Madina Yusuf, about 6 years old
5. Hafsat Yusuf, about 9 years old
6. Eight other persons whose names could not be immediately ascertained
Three other victims *Affan Yusuf* , about 5 years old,
*Hassana Yusuf* , about 7 years old; and *Ummulkursum Yusuf* , about 9 months old—were rescued unconscious.
All the victims were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, the brother of their father, for further necessary attention.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
The Kano State Fire Service urges members of the public to observe all necessary safety precautions, particularly during the rainy season, to prevent similar incidents.
